The Charles Town Collection

The PSO has helped in the collecting of artifacts for the library of the American Public University System (APUS) in Charles Town, West Virginia. Although Charles Town is small in population (about 5,000) it has a remarkable history, starting with George Washington's brother Charles as one of the founders, and its associations with the abolitionist John Brown.

Thanks to the American Public University System investment towards restoring local buildings, Charles Town has a growing university town atmosphere. Although APUS is an online university, it has a campus for its staff and faculty. As material becomes available, PSO has reached out to acquire items for the APUS library, including family archives and old photographs.
